The Body of Christ

November 10, 2024

Body of Christ

When you see a theme repeat several times in the same week it's a sign to pay attention.  The words, “body of Christ” kept being repeated and I began to see that the Lord wanted me to focus on that theme for today's blog. As the end times approach we are going to have to know our place and function as a unit in order to advance the Kingdom in the dark days ahead.  Think about your role:

  • What is your relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit?

  • How has He called you into service for the good of the body?

  • What God-sized vision has He  given you that only you can complete?

  • Are you preparing to radically adjust your life for His purposes?

  • How is your church praying corporately to be of use to God?

  • Are you teaching and reaching the next generation as a disciple maker?

I know, it’s a lot!  And I’ve only scratched the surface.  But beloved, we really only have one job and that is to serve in the Kingdom of God as He has uniquely equipped us.   Jesus showed us every possible role that the Father could assign us so that we would have a model to follow.  Holy Spirit was sent to  direct us so that we could complete our assignment with excellence.  God is always working around us but, do we have the spiritual eyes to see? We need to tune in to what He is doing and how He is asking us to partner with Him in His work.  The heart of the Father is to have such a close loving relationship with us that He merely has to whisper or gesture and we understand Him and obey without hesitation.  He doesn’t need us to get tangled  up in our spiritual giftings or our calling.  He wants us to be ready for whatever task He assigns, big or small.  Don’t be caught off guard when He calls your name to join Him.

Here is my testimony:  As I was going through my healing journey, the Lord gave me a clear vision that I was to speak to people.    About what, when, where and how, He didn't say.  At first, when I got calls to do a podcast or write an article etc. I said yes with a slight bit of trepidation.  I’d ask myself questions like:  am I ready?   what will I have to sacrifice to show up?  how will all the particulars work out etc.  I spoke with veterans  in the ProLife movement and they shared their experiences.  Some said  they only spoke when they were paid to do so.  Others analyzed the platform they were asked to speak at and only accepted if it aligned with their political viewpoints.  Some seemed upset when others in the movement were asked to speak instead of them.  Needless to say I was a bit confused by my mentors.  The Lord didn’t put any parameters around my assignment like what I was hearing from others.  I started to doubt just a little that maybe I wasn’t hearing Him clearly or asking Him for detailed enough instructions.  But then came the assignment to go to Jackson, Mississippi to tell my testimony outside of an abortion clinic-the very one that was involved in the lawsuit that ended Roe v. Wade.  I knew without a doubt that it was the call of God because, in my flesh I would have NEVER chosen to go to Mississippi for ANY reason!  When I said no to the initial “ask” God would not let me alone about my hasty decision.  Unbeknownst to me God had a plan  how the whole two days would go.  Apparently I had a key role to play in the lives of one prophet, one scared mom, one disgusted employee and one smart aleck clinic worker.  I was one of 20 people that formed the body of Christ in Jackson those two crucial days and my presence mattered to God.  What if I had kept to my “no” just because I was stubborn and didn’t want to do what He asked?  How would my absence have affected the body?  Thankfully I will never know-in that instance.  But, believe me, I have questioned myself about other situations where I wasn’t  being the mouthpiece the Lord expected me to be.  Those missed assignments had to be repented of so that the devil couldn’t use them against me.  But I had to humble myself and pray to God for a second chance.  Sometimes He grants us a “do over” and sometimes He doesn’t.

Get ready and stay ready dear readers.  Because if you are a saved blood washed believer, He will expect you to heed His call very shortly.  Until then, keep doing the last thing He commissioned you to do with all your might [Col 3:23 KJV] 23 And whatsoever ye do, do [it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;.   Be blessed until then and let us know how your part in the body of Christ functioned.  Sylvia
